No graphic warning

What is the need to show the entire video in the article (“Hunt on for man who fed cat to dogs”, Gulf News, March 13)? Is there any point to sharing the video this cruel man took for entertainment purposes? Doesn’t this mean Gulf News is just promoting the evil man’s behaviour? At least put a clear graphic warning! What is wrong with you, Gulf News? This is highly unethical.

Bad decision

Well done! Gulf News says in its article that this video might cause teenagers to repeat this absolutely disgusting act, yet the newspaper still shows the video. I am speechless.

What about the children?

Horrific! I am deeply upset and angry. I don’t want to watch the video and Gulf News shouldn’t be posting it for all to see. The man who threw his cat to the dogs wants his video to have maximum views and the newspaper is helping with that. A lot of people will be distressed viewing it and children will see it.

The video was placed at the end of the story, so that any reader who made the decision to view it did so with the full understanding, knowledge and context of what the video represented. While, in many ways, the world would appear to be a better one if we could ignore its barbarities, there is a case that only by confronting and providing evidence of it at its worst are we able to make those changes needed to make things truly, and actually, better. But, we do take your concerns onboard and will keep it in mind for the future.
