The season of cheer is here. With Christmas and New Year just round the corner Dubai's bakers have got busier than ever.
If you think you won't be able to order a cake of your choice, don't worry, help is at hand.
Vinita Lobo, a Dubai-based cake decorating expert, will teach you how to make yummy preparations just like the pros. Lobo, an authorised instructor from the US-based Wilton Method of Cake Decorating, teaches the art of decorating cakes at Tavola in Century Plaza, Jumeirah Beach Road.
Passion for decoration
"It gives me immense joy to see the cakes made by my students at the end of each course," said Lobo. Cake decoration has been a passion for Lobo. After training at the Wilton, she became an authorised instructor for the Middle East.
Lobo's classes are fun-filled and she allows every student to add a touch of their own creativity to the products.
She simplifies the process for learners and goes about making the art of decorating cakes look easy as she embellishes them with rosebuds, frosting, sugar sculptures and other edible treats.
Each level comprises four sessions. The three-hour sessions cover the techniques of preparing the icing, flowers, borders, baskets, ropes, laces and, eventually, assembling the cake.
Many of Lobo's students have gone on to become experts and now take orders for huge parties and other occasions.
