Sharjah: A Lufthansa aircraft was spotted flying low near Sharjah airport on Friday, triggering speculations of a technical problem.

Many motorists who saw the low-flying German carrier took to social media with questions.

However, clearing doubts, Shaikh Khalid Bin Essam Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation in Sharjah Airport , told Gulf News that it’s a normal training exercise.

This exercise takes place every week and it will be continuing, he said.

The exercise has been going on for nearly three years, he said.
