Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on UAE citizens intending to perform the Haj pilgrimage this year to adhere to the instructions of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments and Awqaf, adding that pilgrims should only use accredited Haj missions and obtain Haj entry passes in accordance with the regulations of the relevant Saudi authorities.

A ministry spokesperson said that the warning is made to ensure the safety of Emiratis abroad with the cooperation and coordination of the Authority.

Mohammad Mir Abdullah Al Raisi, Undersecretary at the ministry, said that the Saudi Ministry of Haj has allocated a quota of 4,982 pilgrims this year for the UAE, which is not subject to increase, and is a limit given to all Islamic nations, due to expansion works being carried out by the current government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in Al Haram Mosque in Makkah.
