Umm Al Quwain: The Umm Al Quwain traffic department has announced that motorists will be given a 50 per cent discount on fines.

The offer will take effect from November 20 until December 31.

Lieutenant Colonel Saeed Obaid Bin Aran, director of the traffic department at Umm Al Quwain Police, said the offer was given on occasion of the UAE's 45th National Day celebrations.

Lt Col Bin Aran said the decision to reduce the fines by 50 per cent was made in order to give motorists a chance to renew their registration and pay the accumulated fines.

He urged all motorists to take advantage of this grace period and renew the registration of their vehicles.

The discount in fines applies to all traffic fines given before November 20, except violations that cannot be paid until their owners refer to Umm Al Quwain traffic department,  he added.

The decision also benefits owners of vehicles who registered their cars in other emirates, and is applicable to traffic violations committed in the emirate.

The vehicle owners can pay fees at any service centres registered in the emirate. Payment is also accepted through the Ministry of Interior smart application.
