Dubai: There was a 26 per cent increase in the number of jobs in the UAE posted online in August compared to the same period a year ago, recruitment portal Monster said on Sunday.

Sanjay Modi, managing director of the website, said in a statement that the UAE was “the primary growth stimulator” in the Middle East employment market for the month.

Overall, the Middle East registered a 14 per cent increase in job postings in August compared to the same month last year, Monster said.

“The Monster Employment Index is a monthly gauge of online job posting activity in [the] Middle East, based on a real-time review of tens of thousands of employer job opportunities culled from a large representative selection of career web sites and online job listings,” the company said in a statement.

It added that “customer service professionals” were the largest driver of increases in UAE job postings in August, up 63 per cent. Opportunities in the purchase/logistics/supply chain, meanwhile, increased 58 per cent.

The banking, financial services and insurance sector was also a massive driver of job opportunities in the UAE in August, increasing 46 per cent, while job postings in the oil and gas sector were up 27 per cent, according to Monster. The software/hardware/telecom industry registered a 35 per cent increase in UAE job postings.

“With the improved economy and the growing attractiveness of the UAE as a job destination, hiring in the UAE will see a significant improvement over the next three to twelve months. Overall, the region’s hiring outlook for the coming months is reasonably positive,” Modi stated.
