Dubai: The UAE observed a one-minute silence on Wednesday at 11.30am as a solemn mark of respect for the brave sons of the UAE who gave their life in the service of this nation.

Public and private sectors observed a moment of silence and quiet prayer to mark the UAE’s second Commemoration Day that focuses on country’s heroes who will forever be remembered for their sacrifices, courage and nationalism.

The date also coincides with the opening of Wahat Al Karama, the national martyrs’ monument adjacent to the Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.
