Is your air conditioner making you unwell? Check below to know how Samsung’s latest Wind Free air conditioning prevents major air borne illnesses and keeps you healthy and happy.

While the air conditioner is our safe haven during the ever-lasting UAE summer, it can also be quite a health hazard for various reasons. Samsung takes these issues and chucks them out the window with its new wind-free air conditioner.

Here are two of the most common issues that Samsung tackles with the new wind-free air conditioning systems.

Are you generally feeling ill?

Do you feel weak, tired or have a general sense of fatigue at your workplace? More importantly, does it seem to go away once you leave work? This may be what is known as sick building syndrome. A study published in the International Journal of Epidemiology found that people who spent long hours in buildings with cold central air tend to show more symptoms of illness compared to those who stayed in ventilated air-conditioned surroundings.

Samsung tackles this my changing your air conditioning experience all together. The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers defines any air current less than 0.15m/s to be still air. Once the wind-free AC achieves the desired temperature using fast cooling, the air conditioner’s main vent closes and air flows out of the machine through 21,000 micro holes present on the body of the device. The air conditioner spreads air through the room at a speed less than 0.15m/s. This means the AC is able to spread cool air through the room in a uniform manner without creating temperature variances or cold spots, leaving you to experience cooler temperatures in a very natural-feeling manner.

Is your AC unit well maintained?

In a 2017 Gulf News report, experts James Day, Director at home maintenance firm Hitches & Glitches, and Dr Ravi Gutta, MD, Consultant Allergy and Immunology, Mediclinic City Hospital, expressed their concerns about the role of unmaintained air conditioning units in the growth of nasal and respiratory illnesses.

When exposed to dust and humidity from poorly maintained air conditioning systems, you could face problems such as allergic reactions as well as chronic respiratory problems. The dust from such AC units can be the worst, since a gram (about half a teaspoon) of fine dust contains as many as 1,000 dust mites and 250,000 allergenic dust mite faecal pellets.

Samsung addresses this with three easy solutions. Firstly, its wind-free line-up comes with an easy-to-clean PM2.5 filter that keeps the air clean by capturing 99 per cent of ultrafine dust, dangerous contaminants and allergens in 100 minutes. It also covers 100 per cent of the air inlet, so it completely filters all the air coming in. Secondly, the air conditioner comes with Samsung’ Virus Doctor Technology, which reduces bacteria and viruses by up to 99 per cent. Lastly, the AC comes with Triple Protector Plus technology, which protects the air conditioner from corrosion and other such wear and tear and helps the device have a longer life.

Beyond eliminating the uncomfortable feeling of direct cold wind, the wind-free mode can also reduce skin dryness by lowering continuous direct air conditioning exposure. This is a common problem in the UAE due to harsh summer weather outdoors and continuous air conditioning exposure indoors.

So where can you get one?

Samsung’s wind-free air conditioners are available at all leading electronics retail outlets in two sizes, 1.5 ton and 2 ton, which retail at Dh3,199 and Dh3,799 (excluding VAT) respectively.
