Dubai: A technician has been accused of luring an 11-year-old schoolboy in to the washroom of a mosque and attempting to rape him.

The 11-year-old Indian boy was said to have broken free from the hands of the 57-year-old Pakistani technician, D.K., foiled the latter’s attempt to rape him and ran away from the washroom naked on January 9.

“I am not guilty… I did not that,” said D.K. when he defended himself before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Sunday.

Senior Chief Prosecutor Yousuf Foulaz, Head of Deira Prosecution, asked the court to impose a life sentence against the defendant, as per the Penal Code’s articles 354 and 355.

According to the charge-sheet, the suspect talked the boy into entering the washroom then removed his trousers. When the defendant was about to have sex with the boy, the 11 year old managed to open the door and escape from the washroom of the mosque in Souq Al Hamriya.

Arrest

The boy’s father testified to prosecutors that after the incident the boy came from the mosque crying and afraid.

“My son was crying when he told me that a man [D.K.] called him to the washroom. Then that man allegedly removed my son’s trousers and he took off his own clothes wanting to rape my boy… but my son told me that he managed to open the door and run away. Immediately we reported this to the police and my son described to them how the suspect looks like. When my son spotted the defendant in a mosque, he pointed at him. The suspect did not complete his prayer and walked out quickly from the mosque… when I saw him a second time, I kept hold of him until the police came and arrested him,” the father claimed to prosecutors.

The boy was cited admitting that the defendant offered him money if he allowed him to have sex with him.

Meanwhile the suspect was cited claiming to prosecutors that he slapped the boy inside the washroom where he was performing the ablution.

Presiding judge Maher Salama Al Mahdi adjourned the case until the suspect’s lawyer presents his defence on April 27.
