Abu Dhabi: Tadweer (the Centre of Waste Management - Abu Dhabi), has signed contracts in five zones worth over Dh1.2 billion, it was announced on Monday.

Tadweer announced that the new projects were signed after reviewing complaints and suggestions submitted by residents in various zones. Under the new contracts, the company hopes to provide new services that exceed residents’ expectations.

The contracts will provide waste collection and transportation, street sweeping and cleaning services as well as public health pest control services across the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Sharjah Environment Company (Bee’ah), Averda Waste Management, and Lavajet Abu Dhabi – Nael and Bin Harmal Hydro-export Establishment Joint Venture will provide waste collection and transportation, street sweeping and cleaning services.

Tadweer also signed a contract with Eagle Environment Services and Pest Control, Akar Landscaping Services and Agriculture, and Prime Tech Diversified Contracting to provide public health pest control services.

Eisa Saif Al Qubaisi, general manager of Tadweer, said; “Signing these new contracts comes in line with Tadweer’s vision of being recognised as a world leader in building sustainable, integrated waste management and pest control systems by 2030.”

The company said it plans to use performance indicators to fine any non-compliant service providers, in addition to using a fully electronic system to track progress and mandating contractors to keep a spare amount of bins if needed.

The new contracts will have around 4,236 people and 650 vehicles allocated across the Four Zones; 894 people and 146 vehicles in Zone 1 in Abu Dhabi, 710 people and 102 vehicles in Zone 2 in Abu Dhabi, 1,459 people and 194 vehicles in Al Ain’s Northern Zone, and 1,173 people and 208 vehicles in Al Ain’s Southern Zone.

Contracts were signed with the Sharjah Environment Company (Bee’ah) to provide waste collection, transportation, in addition to street sweeping and cleaning services in Abu Dhabi City Zone 1. Averda received two similar contracts in each of Abu Dhabi City Zone 2 and the Northern Zone of Al Ain.

Lavajet Abu Dhabi – Nael and Bin Harmal Hydroexport Establishment JV were awarded a contract for waste collection and transportation, streets sweeping and cleaning services in the Southern Zone of Al Ain.

Other contracts include Eagle Environment Services and Pest Control for Al Ain Southern Zone, Akar Landscaping Services and Agriculture for Al Ain Northern Zone and Prime Tech Diversified Contracting Specialists for work on Yas Island, Al Raha Gardens and the Mangroves Beach.
