Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Wednesday received at his office social media activist Shaikh Majed Al Sabah and the novelist Taleb Al Refai.
Welcoming his guests to Sharjah, Dr Shaikh Sultan stressed the importance of promoting a sound and moderate culture based on facts and documents to heighten the awareness of generations to come and teach them the love of knowledge and leadership in all areas. He added that Sharjah adopted this approach a long time ago through the launch of many initiatives and establishing leading cultural institutions, including the Sharjah International Book Fair.
During the meeting, Dr Shaikh Sultan spoke about a number of cultural initiatives and institutions in Sharjah such as Knowledge without Borders initiative. He also touched on the deep UAE-Kuwaiti relations, praising the pivotal role played by Kuwait to support education. He further referred to his personal memories of Kuwait and his meetings with Kuwaitis
Dr Shaikh Sultan and his guests toured the Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre for Gulf Studies which features a lot of his personal collectibles, including certificates and orders. They also toured the centre’s halls which were designed to display documentaries on the Gulf history and documents and manuscripts.
The meeting was attended by Shaikh Salem Bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi, chairman of the Ruler’s Office, Shaikh Saif Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, director of Sharjah University City, and other senior officials.
