Dubai: Ronan Morgan, the newly appointed CEO of the World Professional Powerboating Association (WPPA), has returned following a successful trip to Cascais, Portugal ahead of the third round of the UIM XCAT World Series to be held in June.

This will be the first time that XCAT action will take place in Portugal and Morgan was delighted with preparations ahead of the race weekend that will take place from June 12-14.

“Everything is well on track and the local authorities and organisers are getting excited to welcome the greatest motorsport series on water to their shores. It promises to be a fabulous spectacle with all the action concentrated close to the shore and a mega screen on site to ensure all spectators enjoy every detail of the exciting racing,” said Morgan.

The new Ceo met with the Deputy Vice-Mayor of Cascais, Bernardo de Barros, to discuss preparations for the event and said the meetings had gone particularly well. “I’m very happy with where we are in terms of planning for the event. We will be launching a promotional campaign at the beginning of June and Cascais locals can look forward to getting up close to one of the unique XCAT boats which will be on display in the town square where XCAT merchandise will also be available,” he added.

The race weekend will kick off with Official Practice on June 12, followed by Pole Position and the head-to-head Speed Cat Run the next day. The main race, the Cascais GP will get underway at 3 pm on June 14.
