Dubai: The UAE Rugby Federation (UAERF) announced the resignation of its rugby manager Wayne Marsters on Wednesday.

Marsters is returning to his native New Zealand to assume the position of coach educator and developer at the Canterbury Rugby Football Union in Christchurch.

“I cannot express enough thanks to the federation for giving me the opportunity to work for UAE Rugby,” Marsters said. “I leave with a heavy heart. The UAERF, and indeed the entire UAE and Asia rugby community, have been my family for such a long time. But now the call of my other family, and home, beckons alongside a great opportunity to work within one of the most respected and successful rugby organisations in the world.”

UAERF general secretary Qais Al Dhalai thanked Marsters for his services and wished him all the best for the future.

“I’m sad to see Wayne leave the UAE Rugby family, but happy to witness Canterbury Rugby seeking the UAERF calibre,” said Al Dhalai. “We thank him for his commitment and contribution to the development of both our sevens and 15s players, as well as to the growth of UAE Rugby. We are excited to hear of Wayne’s new role and are confident he takes with him valuable knowledge to help him succeed in his role.”
