Dubai: Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police, on Sunday said there was no official report against UAE soccer player Faisal Khalil regarding his alleged involvement in witchcraft. He also slammed the practice of witchcraft.

Al Shams (The Sun), a Saudi Arabian newspaper, had reported that Khalil and his teammate Subait Khater were in police custody for their involvement in soccery.

Al Shams said the player was seeking magic powers to help stay in the UAE national team and that Esmail Mattar and Esmail Al Hammadi, two of the best strikers in the UAE, will be hexed.

Meanwhile, a sport's expert has called upon the heads of sports clubs in the country to educate the players could get involved in such practices due to their level of thinking.

He urged them to follow the practice of international clubs who pay attention to the physical and mental health of their players.

However, a source close to Khalil family, who did not wish to be named, said the player was not detained by Dubai police and would never get involved in any sort of witchcraft.
