Dubai: The team of Bipin Bhatia and Kiran Uttamchandani won the Gulf News Merchants Cup Golf Tournament recently held at The Montgomerie.
The winners scored 45 points in the Pairs Stableford event which attracted a field of 72 ardent golfers.
The weather played a leading role in the tournament with the fog causing a 45 minute delay in the Club's morning session which, in turn delayed the Gulf News-sponsored tournament.
However, nearly all the pairs completed their games, albeit in the approaching darkness.
Kush Sama and Ashok Varma finished runners-up with a 41 point count back score. In third and fourth positions were the teams of Gurbax Singh and Stathis Stathis and Asim Arshad and Bayar Khan. In fifth position were A.S. Rao and Bharat Godkhindi.
Deepa Uttamchandani and Jacqui Barry were the top scoring Ladies' Team with 40 points.
The prize for the longest drive was claimed by Nick Evagelopoulos and Naresh Handa.
