Dubai: Officials at the American University in the Emirates (AUE) hope its link-up with reigning Spanish La Liga champions Atletico Madrid will help UAE youth achieve their dreams.

The AUE and Fundacion Atletico De Madrid on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with support from Teleserve. The cooperation will lead to exchanges of expertise, while also furthering research in fields including sports and sports management.

“The agreement is also meant to give Arab youth an international perspective and exposure while promoting dialogue, cooperation and cultural exchanges between our youngsters and those from Spain. The basis for this is to ensure a better and effective future with sports as a medium,” said Khalaf Al Qubaisi, Deputy Chairman of AUE.

“This partnership with Atletico de Madrid is one of the best practices in teaching and will provide the best experiences to students at the AUE, along with added benefits from academia to the Spanish league champions.”

German Robles, from the Fundacion Atletico De Madrid, stressed that the club is eager to cooperate with the AUE at all levels.

“This link-up is part of our strategic plan and branching out process that we have initiated at Atletico Madrid. I am confident this partnership will help us achieve our goals set for the near future,” Robles said.

“We have huge expectations from the partnership as it will not just be in the educational field between both countries. We are number one in Europe in the world of football and we want to pass on this winning mentality to students in the UAE. A lot of Spanish clubs follow our model of success and now we feel it is time to share this prototype for success outside of Europe.”

Dr Mutanna Abdul Razak, AUE President, announced the opening of a new college offering degrees in Sports Medicine, Sports Marketing and Sports Media and Communications.
