Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Monday received at Al Bahr Palace in Abu Dhabi the UAE Armed Forces’ team of climbers who successfully conquered Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain.

He expressed his pride and glory in the nation’s youth who pursue excellence and innovation and make achievements in many areas that enhance the UAE’s stature regionally and globally and raise its flag in all arenas.

“I am extremely proud of you … you are indeed the sons of the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. You are the heroes of the UAE who set an example to the diligent and enthusiastic youth seeking to overcome challenges and leave a special imprint in your professional career,” Shaikh Mohammad told the Emirati heroes.

He praised the team for making such a big success in one of the toughest and most dangerous tasks. Shaikh Mohammad attributed this success to the team’s high morale and spirit as well as their determination and strong will.

Shaikh Mohammad expressed his joy at the team’s achievement and their efforts in overcoming extreme challenges. Shaikh Mohammad hailed the team for being persistent in their adventure and succeeding in reaching the summit through team effort and by undergoing extensive physical and psychological preparations.

The team, consisting of 16 members comprising 13 Emiratis from the armed forces and three experts in mountaineering expeditions, embarked on their mission around two months ago, and successfully scaled Mount Everest at 8,858 metres on May 19, planting the UAE flag to mark the 40th anniversary of the unification of UAE’s military forces.
