Vilnius: President Dalia Grybauskaite of Lithuania on Wednesday received Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister, in the capital Vilnius, in the course of his official visit to a number of European countries.
During the meeting, Shaikh Abdullah conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Lithuanian President along with his wishes for further progress and development for Lithuania and its people.
Shaikh Abdullah said that his visit comes within the framework of communication and rapprochement between the UAE and a number of friendly countries, to promote and document the relations of cooperation and friendship between the UAE and Lithuania.
He also lauded the level of relationship between the two countries.
President Grybauskaite commended the rapid development witnessed by the UAE, describing it as the best role model in the world. She referred to the prudent policy and wise leadership of Shaikh Khalifa.
She welcomed the visit of Shaikh Abdullah, expressing hope that this visit will contribute to the development of relations of friendship and cooperation, and strengthening them to serve the common interests of the peoples of the two countries.
President Grybauskaite stressed the need for joint action to activate trade relations and increase the volume of investments by encouraging capital, investors, private sector and the energy sector in both countries as well as studying ways of bilateral cooperation.
Earlier, Algirdas Butkeviaius, Prime Minister of Lithuania, received Shaikh Abdullah.
During the meeting, Shaikh Abdullah affirmed the UAE’s keenness to strengthen relations and develop cooperation with Lithuania in all areas of common interest.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister of Lithuania welcomed Shaikh Abdullah, stressing his country’s keenness on developing bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of economy, tourism and investment given the UAE’s economic, investment and trade growth status in the region, as well as remarkable urban development, which has earned the UAE world-wide prestige.
