Abu Dhabi: The Executive Committee at the Abu Dhabi Executive Council has approved the classification of several areas in Al Ain as natural reserves and identified local bodies responsible for their management and operation.
The committee’s decision came after it reviewed a study prepared by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council.
It approved the dedication of sand dunes north of Al Tawaya valley, and the sand areas of Hazea’a Al Bosch and Zakher as nature reserves under the administration of Al Ain Municipality.
The Zakher lake was also dedicated as a protected area under the administration of the Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi. The lake is particularly important as it attracts various species of migrating birds and offers natural landscapes combining sand and water, making it an ideal destination for walking enthusiasts and explorers.
