Dubai: Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz was chosen as Zayed Book Award’s cultural personality of the year.
The announcement was made by Dr Ali Bin Tamin, Secretary General of the Zayed Book Award, during a press conference held at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.
King Abdullah is popular for his cultural initiatives at home and abroad, having initiated several projects, which include the King Abdul Aziz Library in Riyadh and in Morocco.
The Saudi king also donated billions of dollars to an endowment fund for the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.
