Abu Dhabi: Reem Mall, an upcoming development in Abu Dhabi, announced it has named Al Futtaim Carillion as the preferred tenderer for construction of the $1 billion project.

In a statement on Sunday, the Mall said it will enter into detailed contract negotiations with Al Futtaim Carillion exclusively, with the objective of finalising an agreement to execute the remaining works.

The announcement comes after the final permission to construct was received from Abu Dhabi Municipality earlier this month.

“Al Futtaim Carillion was selected as the preferred tenderer due to its strong track record of delivering significant high quality projects in the region, and its team of construction experts,” said Shane Eldstrom, Chief Operating Officer for Reem Mall.

Some of Al Futtaim Carillion’s projects include Deira City Centre, the Dubai Mall, Dubai Festival City expansions, and New York University in Abu Dhabi.

Dutch Foundation, an engineering foundation company in Abu Dhabi, is currently on site carrying out an enabling works contract involving excavation, lateral restraint systems, and dewatering.

Reem Mall is set to launch in 2018 and will comprise around 450 stores, including 85 dining outlets and an indoor snow park. It will deliver two million square feet of leasable area.
