Dubai: A clerk has been accused of molesting a schoolgirl while her mother was busy ironing and he was giving her private Quran lessons at her house. The 36-year-old Bangladeshi clerk, M.M., was said to have groped the American girl and touching her indecently in October.
The suspect entered a not guilty plea when he showed up before the Dubai Court of First Instance.
Prosecutors said the defendant exploited the fact that the girl was alone with him in the room and molested her.
The girl’s American mother testified to prosecutors that M.M. used to give weekly lessons to her daughter on Quran recitation.
“The suspect and my daughter used to sit alone in the dining room during the lessons on Fridays and Saturdays. One afternoon, I was ironing in the next room when I heard my daughter saying ‘don’t do this’. When I went to check what was happening, I saw my daughter clutching her hijab and standing beside the wall… she seemed petrified. When I asked her what was wrong, she gave me a very strange look. However I asked her to finish her lesson. She confessed to me that the suspect allegedly molested her repeatedly. My girl alleged that the suspect had been groping her and touching her inappropriately since September. Thereafter I called the defendant and asked him to stop coming to our place before I informed the police,” claimed the mother.
The girl was quoted alleging to prosecutors that the defendant molested her more than two times.
