Why is it always thought that a common citizen cannot lead a gang, group or a country? Leadership is pursuing something you are passionate about and making others do what they don’t want to do in a way that encourages them to actually do it. By providing people with opportunities to lead in the manner they love the most, we won’t just be creating more leaders and responsible citizens, but we will also be dampening the negative forces around us.

Today, there are a significant number of challenges that need to be conquered all over the world. While earthquakes, tropical cyclones and oil-leaks are common headlines in newspapers, what are we doing about it? Most of the times, we blame it on others but instead of blaming others, why can’t we find ways to lessen the damage? As common citizens, why don’t we consider helping the victims that went through the inevitable? Hard? I think not!

Recession is another caption that instantly catches your eye. Monotonously, we hear about people protesting about price hikes and inflation. Instead of chewing your fingernails or biting your skin off, ponder over what can be done. What harm would it do to save a little amount of your earnings if not weekly, at least monthly? Prove that you are rational citizens of the country, know how to spend within a budget and secure your future.

“A nuclear war is going to emanate” or “The effects of the future level of global warming are unpredictable” is how the media never fails to scare us of what our future beholds. But if we come to think of it, has all the above mentioned already taken place? Don’t we still have time to figure out what we can do to prevent the unwanted from happening? They say unity is strength, and indeed, a large community of strong citizens with apt leadership qualities and intellectuality can help solve these dilemmas. The challenge is not easy. It would require a lot of patience, commitment and the ability to take charge of situations and face the resulting consequences. Are you up for it? I am.
