Two great political power houses of India suffered a great setback when Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of Arvind Kejriwal won 67 out of 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly. Last time, Kejriwal made the mistake and resigned from the Assembly within 50 days. Those 50 days were the hardest due to agitation and strikes for support of the Lokpal Bill — for that, Kejriwal and his party deserve appreciation. AAP is now positively looking for a solution of their problems.

Kejriwal promised in his first speech after his victory that he would end the VIP culture and promised to wipe out corruption from the roots. However, time will tell us about the fulfillment of his promises. AAP is just a few years old and it has wiped out almost a century-old dynasty of Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The honeymoon of the much celebrated BJP victory is now over and the Congress has not won a single seat. We [Pakistan] have many lessons to learn from the victory of AAP, and it is something that will benefit our politics. Our many old dynasties are still again and again ruling us without bringing any significant change. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was almost wiped out in the last general elections from three provinces and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) is back to ruling us. For the past three decades, and for two old dynasties, PML-N have frequently ruled us.

Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is struggling without significant success and has now become controversial due to an unplanned stopping of rallies. PTI has achieved nothing from rallies and as a result, lost confidence of their followers. PPP in Sindh is ruling as usual and are currently facing charges of corruption, while PML-N is doing a good job in Punjab. With this in mind, we, the people of Pakistan are waiting for a party like AAP to step in.

We are still far away from change however, we are very hopeful that Pakistan will witness someone like Anna Hazare or Arvind Kejriwal... Let’s wait and see what the future holds.
