Misleading headline

Gulf News needs to take care with the headlines they publish because it is giving the wrong information (‘Six dead after police storm India guru’s ashram,’ Gulf News, November 19). The six who died did not happen because of police action. There were four women who died because of poor health conditions inside the ashram. People who wanted medical attention and were not allowed by the supporters to leave. One woman died of a heart attack out of fear and one child died due to suffering from jaundice for want of medical aid. If you just read the headline it seems like these people died in the clash.

The headline did not give the wrong information. It would have if the word ‘killed’ was used. In this case, they died as an indirect result of police action (for want of medical attention, or poor health conditions inside the ashram).
