Emma Watson’s ‘HeForShe’ campaign that was launched last month has sparked a major debate on social media sites as various people are now standing up to fight for gender equality. Hilary Clinton’s quote ‘women’s rights are human rights’ has become the blueprint for action on the issue.

The focus of this week’s debate is on gender equality and whether it will ever be possible to achieve this?

These are the statements to be debated:

• No, true equality would only be achievable if we were all born with the same abilities, talents, and strengths.

• No, in order to achieve gender equality, women must first learn to treat each other equally.

• Yes, if women can join the army, then its proven that women are as strong and motivated as men in their work force.

• Yes, because women have potential to strengthen the world economy by earning money, owning property and growing the work force.

Participants will be required to clearly state whether they are ‘for’ or ‘against’ the statement and provide their supporting arguments for the same.
