Passport inequality makes sense

This is because of migration issues including illegal practices(‘Not all passports are created equal,’ May 3). Some countries enjoy good visa access across the globe because they might have a good national identification system and comprehensive insurance. There are countries that make it easy to track citizens by their respective immigration bureaus on their whereabouts. I am from the Philippines. I think that for Indians, Pakistanis and us, the probability of migration is high, especially considering the economic situation in our countries.

Does it really matter?

What purpose does this information serve? Those who have easy access to countries are surely already aware. In any case whenever one has to travel, they enquire on visa rules of that country and during that time it makes no sense whether my passport gets a visa more easily or not compared to any other country.

An obvious answer

Is the purpose of this study to please some and condemn others? To me, it’s obviously the difference between more prosperous and economically sound countries and the ones that are either struggling with poverty or are stricken by wars.

Global discrimination

This is the greatest discrimination in the world and nobody from the West would raise it at on any platform because they are the ones benefitting from it.

Improvement for all

As a Pakistani, I always wish the best for Pakistan that the people live in peace and need good governance. I am hopeful that Pakistan’s rank will improve. I wish the best of luck to all the countries.

Is it racism?

With Pakistan, is the ranking because of the current unrest and political uncertainty in the country? Or is it merely a ‘bit’ of racism?

A sad world

This is really annoying. People should be treated according to various aspects but their country of origin shouldn’t be one of them. It’s really sad when someone is from a third world country who loves travelling, and they have to pay for insurance and other things. You have to arrange for your vacation two months in advance, while others might decide it while they are at the airport, and have the chance to visit all countries. It’s a sad world.

Do not publish

This was a racist piece, written to create disharmony in the community. By comparing nationalities of passport holders. The article suggests that people from some countries are inferior to others, which sows seeds of discrimination. Such pieces should not be published.

No discrimination

I appreciate the way the writer presented the passport analysis, but I’m very disappointed by the way he presented the ranking for ‘Pakistan’. With no other other country did he use a question mark like the one used for Pakistan. Please be unbiased and impartial when presenting any analysis, use the same words and tone for all.

Editor’s note: Gulf News is a fair and ethical newspaper. The newspaper’s role is to present factually accurate news and its analysis quickly, efficiently and in an unbiased manner. The article looked at the findings of an international study and in no way or manner is an editorial or indicative of personal opinion. The writer has clarified that the usage of ‘Pakistan?’ in the last paragraph was merely a writing tool used to pique reader interest and not meant with any ill intent. The newspaper welcomes all feedback, as it helps us stay accurate and relevant.

Unrealistic article

The views shared in the comment are not based on reality. I entirely disagree with the author (‘India’s new Hinduism is about order’, May 4). If we go back, a similar trend was prevailing in India when the first Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government under A.B. Vajpayee assumed power in Delhi, some years ago. Readers who read this article must understand that there will always be a strong opposition to any moves that destabilize the country’s prosperity and secular concept in every aspect. The BJP would not go to that extent.

Ever since the election was announced, it was media, both visual and print that started to focus on Narendra Modi, the prime-ministerial candidate of the BJP. This is only based on the Gujarat riots of 2002. Media like Gulf News must understand that a country like India cannot run solely based on the ideology of an individual.

India being a secular country would continue to thrive in that respect irrespective of the political party that assumes office in Delhi.

Cowardly act

I agree that this man is an arrogant coward (‘Palestinian kills wife for daring to complain against him,’ May 4). Women have the right to live their life.

Same right to live

This was such a foolish act. Why can’t we, as men, accept that women have same right to live.
