The residents of Dubai continue to take pride in the novelty of the city's Metro system. That pride is shown by the sheer volume of passengers travelling on the Red Line each day. In a little over seven months of operation, the public transit system is living up to its marketing slogan of ‘My Metro'.

Today, another seven stations open on the Red Line, offering new service and travel alternatives to the 140,000 who use the service. Within a matter of weeks, three more stations will open their doors, providing ready access to all points of the city in a comfortable and modern public transport system.

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority should take a bow for the manner in which it has opened the stations, making sure all of the surrounding infrastructure is complete.

The advent of these new stations marks another milestone in the city's development — reason to smile.
