There is no doubt that Al Qaida's global standing has diminished today. Its message is no longer relevant as its method of destruction and terror does not have much of a following today. Its recent video release which coincided with the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks is pointless as much as it is useless.

The video shows Ayman Al Zawahiri with footage of Osama Bin Laden warning Americans of "falling as slaves" to corporations and praising the Arab Spring and Al Qaida's support of it.

The video is indicative of the hollowness and bankruptcy of Al Qaida's ideology and its serious lack of following. As a matter of fact, it seems that the organisation picks up on random topics in its desperate attempt to find a following.

Yet what is more important to note here is the fact that there is no resemblance and no connection whatsoever between movements in the Arab world that are calling for freedom and democracy and backward thinking such as that of Al Qaida. And it is because of the changes that have been brought about by the Arab Spring that the world is witnessing the slow yet final death of Al Qaida.
