According to Shakespeare, a fool and their money are easily parted — and that particularly seems to be the case after using automated teller machines or leaving bank buildings. Unscrupulous criminals and con men are using a variety of tactics to rob bank customers and relieve their of hard-earned cash.

Authorities are warning customers to be aware when they withdraw cash. While other customers in the bank may appear to be normal — and indeed the vast majority are simply going about their business, there are thieves who watch for the unsuspecting and the unaware. All it takes is a discrete text message from inside the bank to other gang members outside, and the rouse if put in play.

Be very aware if, for example, your tyre is flat when you leave the bank. Contact security immediately as this is often a ploy used to distract you and provide an opportunity for the gang to steal your money,.

The message for all is to remain vigilant, don’t take risks, and don’t be afraid to use security for your own protection.
