The Women’s Committee at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has held numerous events in celebration of the Emirati Women’s Day launched by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood. Held on 28th August every year, the event coincides with the establishment of the Women's Union on the same date in 1975. Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) held a range of events to celebrate Emirati Women’s day, honouring their female employees for their achievements.

The events took place under the theme ‘Women are partners in giving’ on August 28, which coincides with the date of the establishment of the Women’s Union in 1975.

During the celebrations, several female employees were selected and honoured with a portrait displaying their record of achievements during their career in RTA. The events carried out by the RTA Women’s Committee, aimed to contribute to spreading positive energy among women and increase their efficiency at work and spirit of giving.

A panel discussion was also held by Dr Maryam Mattar, Founder and Chairwoman of the Emirates Genetic Diseases Association, at the Dubai Fountain and Burj Khalifa, in the presence of several RTA female staff members. The session highlighted the role of Emirati women in fostering the community and coping with various challenges during their professional career. Discussions also reviewed the role of the UAE in empowering Emirati women and their contributions to the country’s development. Those attending were also given the opportunity to discuss a range of topics including women’s health issues.

The Women’s Committee is keen on empowering women employees and giving them more self-confidence to take up leading positions.
