Abu Dhabi: Nearly 121,000 square metres of roads and pavements within the capital city are being refurbished at a cost of Dh128 million, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City announced in a statement sent today (October 27).

A section of the maintenance works which were begun in 2013 were completed this May. Another set of internal roads, including pavements and street equipment, are currently being repaired, and the projects are expected to be completed by next July (2016).

Some of the maintenance includes the laying of new asphalt over 65,000 square metres of Fatima Bint Mubarak Street, 18,000 square metres along Al Falah Street, 7,500 square metres on Sultan Bin Zayed the First Street and 9,500 square metres on Zayed the First Street. Pavements are also being constructed along Shaikh Zayed Street, while medians are being set up on Al Falah.
