Dubai: Authorities in Fujairah have launched an investigation after a four-year-old girl was recorded crying for one hour in front of her empty house in the scorching heat – all because the school bus driver refused to drop her at her grandmother’s.

Surveillance cameras installed at the family’s garage shows footage from April 12, 2017, where the young child is walking back and forth while crying, after she was dropped by the school bus at around 1pm.

The student of Al-Sharq Kindergarten was left standing alone until a kind samaritan spotted the distressed girl, and drove her to her grandmother’s house, according to local Arab media.

Abu Dhabi Network posted the surveillance footage on their Instagram account @net_ad on Saturday.

Mohammed Suhail Saeed, head of the East Coast Branch of Emirates Transport, told the Arabic daily Emarat Al Youm that an investigation has been launched into the negligent actions of the bus driver and the female supervisor.

Saeed explained that the incident was unacceptable and shocking, especially as the young girl was picked up that same morning at her grandmother’s house.

“The student informed the bus driver that her parents were at work and that nobody was in the house, but she was still forced to get off the bus,” said Saeed.
