Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is offering 250 unique vehicle license plate numbers in its 47th online auction, which will open to the public on April 23, for five days.
Registration for the auction starts on April 16, with bidding on the opening day set to start at 8am.
License plate numbers including three, four, and five digits will be available, with F, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R and S-coded plates.
“The intense public participation seen by open or online auctions and the heated bidding was indicative of the importance of these auctions in maximising the happiness and satisfaction of number plate enthusiasts,” said Sultan Al Marzouqi, Director of Vehicles Licensing at RTA.
He highlighted the importance of online auctions to a large part of the community who prefer to select their fancied numbers in a hassle-free environment. “These auctions also contribute to enhancing the online services of Vehicles Licensing Department under an annual plan aimed at improving the quality and standard of processing the public transaction,” added Al Marzouqi.
To participate in the auction, residents much register by logging on to RTA website (www.rta.ae), or visiting any RTA Customers Happiness Centre in Dubai. Every potential bidder is required to pay Dh5,000 as a security deposit, which is refunded after the auction. A Dh120 registration fee before the start of bidding is also required, via a credit card or a cheque addressed to the RTA.
“A team from RTA’s Call Centre has been furnished with all information related to the auction, and stands ready to respond to any public inquiries made through the toll-free number 8009090 about procedures of participation or payment,” said Al Marzouqi.
