Dubai — The new Quran Park project being developed in an area of 64 hectares in Al Khawaneej, was inspected by Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality on Thursday.
While the main aim of creating the park is to increase green areas in the emirate, the project is more than just that.
The Quran Park is a modern cultural project that will showcase the cultural and scientific achievements of Islam, including the collection of plants mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah. It will introduce visitors to the Islamic heritage in agriculture.
The Quran Park will feature exhibits that explain the meaning behind many of the stories told in the Quran including the scientific and medicinal values of plants. It will also display how modern medicine depends heavily on these facts.
During the visit, Lootah was informed by the specialists about the nature of the project and the stages planned by the Municipality to develop the park by planting the trees and plants that are mentioned in the Quran.
The project divides the green spaces into 51 species of plants and fruits that are mentioned in the Quran including bananas, pomegranates, olives, melons, grapes, figs, garlic, leeks, onions, corn, lentils, wheat, sorghum, ginger, tamarind, basil, and pumpkin.
The project will also include a glass house that will display and sell greenery mentioned in the Quran, while the Cave of Miracles will showcase the seven miracles mentioned in it using the latest technology.
The park will have plenty of modern features, including solar trees, on-site Wi-Fi, and phone-charging stations. It will also have two play areas for children ranging from 2 to 12 years old, shaded with palm trees.
