Dubai: Pilots from around the world praised the cabin crew on the EK521 Emirates flight that had an emergency landing at Dubai International Airport on Wednesday, by posting messages of support on an online forum.

Describing the cabin crew as “courageous” and “outstanding,” pilots applauded the crew on board for efficiently evacuating all passengers safely off the aircraft.

Messages poured in on ‘pprune,’ an online forum for pilots and others working in the aviation industry.

One message read: “Well done Cabin Crew — loud and clear the instructions just like in training. We practice and practice and hopefully never need to use it but yesterday all that training came into good use saving lives.”

Another pilot said: “It can’t be understated how well the cabin crew performed yesterday, under such extreme circumstances and given the passenger profile onboard, they were indeed true heroes, hats off to those who trained them, and led them, all of your teaching and actions saved hundreds of lives yesterday. Thank you!”

Meanwhile, others on the forum said the crew demonstrated a “gold medal” performance, and deserve to be recognised.

“Looks like a big surprise very well handled indeed. Exactly what “training” is all about and EK demonstrating the skill,” said another pilot.

The team of 18 Emirates’ cabin crew were able to evacuate all 282 passengers safely before flames gutted the aircraft. Marking Emirates worst incident in its 31-year history, the accident was handled in the best way possible by the airline’s team of cabin crew.
