Continuing with its year-round charitable and social activities, PAD recently launched an initiative to supply food to deserving families, that will last the rest of Ramadan.

The food packages, which are 30kg and consist of 16 items such as five kg rice, five kg wheat flour, oil, spices, dates, and custard powder, were packed by Lulu Hypermarket.

“Around 200 packages were handed over on the spot during the launch of the campaign at PAD premises, while several packages were distributed at the doors of the deserving families,” said Rizwan Fancy, welfare secretary at PAD.

The packages, sponsored by community members, are being provided to people irrespective of their ethnicity or nationality.

“We don’t discriminate between people. We have a database of families who benefit from our year-round activities, apart from these anybody can come to us and claim the packages by providing us his/her details,” added Fancy, who his managing the campaign.

As part of the campaign PAD is also organising an iftar for around 400 labourers on August 13, which will also celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day.

“We are in talks with a company to send their workers to the Pakistan Academy on the 13th. This will also mark as our celebration of Independence Day, we are doing it a day ahead because Lailatul Qadr falls on August 14,” said Fancy.

To welcome Ramadan, PAD organised lectures for community members and also plans to visit prisons to secure the release of prisoners jailed for minor crimes.

Commending the philanthropic contributions of the community, Fancy urged people to come forward with more help, which will allow PAD take on bigger projects to serve the people.
