“I focus more on quality rather than quantity when it comes to food during Ramadan. I make sure to cook well-balanced dishes in moderate quantities, because most of my family is not able to eat much at iftar. We usually end our fast with dates and samboosas, followed by soup and sometimes a small appetiser. We then have one main dish, which is usually a light and healthy dish. Many of my friends and neighbours cook several dishes and desserts daily, and have a lot of leftovers, which they end up throwing away. My message to others is please don’t cook according to your cravings while fasting. Make quality dishes in small quantities that help nourish the body.”
