Sharjah: Al Qasba, the premier tourist, leisure and family destination in Sharjah, will host the Arabic version of the theatrical stage play, Rest Upon the Wind, inspired by the life and time of the late Arab literary legend Gibran Khalil Gibran.

The play will be staged at the Masrah Al Qasba theatre for three days from December 10-12.

The theatre’s audience will get to know the character of Gibran Khalil Gibran, the Arab literary personality and source of inspiration for millions of readers and writers around the world.

Rest Upon the Wind, a play written by Nadim Sawalha and performed by a group of artists, will be staged for the first time in Arabic in the UAE, in Masrah Al Qasba theatre.

The play, which has received major worldwide acclaim, will take the audience on a journey through the life of this writer and artist, depicting some of Gibran’s human relations, nostalgia and anecdotes about his time abroad. The play sheds light on the life of one of the most influential icons of our time, and celebrates Gibran’s philosophy reflected in his writings that have been translated into several languages.

The play portrays the struggle and conflict in Gibran’s life in order to convey a message of love and peace, as he did in his most famous book The Prophet. The play provides insight into the people who had the strongest influence on Gibran’s life and character.

Gibran is an iconic poet, writer, and artist, born in Lebanon in 1883, who migrated with his family to the United States when he was 12 years old. He resided in Boston, where he developed a passion for opera, theatre and art galleries, which helped him to discover his great art talent.

Gibran died in 1931 leaving what can be considered literary and art treasures, reflecting his ideas about love, policy and spiritual affinity. His philosophy was clear in his sayings and poems in Arabic and English.
