Dubai: The Emirates Human Rights Association (EHRA) on Sunday said the Federal National Council (FNC) election was fair and transparent.

Mohammad Salem Bin Dowa’yan Al Kaabi, Director of the EHRA, praised the significant role that the FNC and election committees in all emirates played, as well as the awareness of candidates and voters and their commitment to the instructions and regulations.

He added that the procedures adopted by the planning committees and national committee’s simplified voting system used across the UAE contributed significantly to the smoothness and ease of the election process in all its three stages.

The availability of different polling station in various areas of each city, he said, contributed to an increased number of votes during the last day of the election.

Women’s participation was very evident during the voting period, which showed how Emirati women are taking part in the decision-making process.

Al Kaabi also commended the efforts of Dr Anwar Mohammad Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs and Chairman of the National Election Committee, in helping to make the electoral process a success.

He said the FNC election complied with international standards and was fair and transparent, which enhanced the parliamentary experience and political empowerment in the UAE.
