Dubai: Satwa residents were disgusted at finding a dead dog hanging by its lead from a house window yesterday.
In a sandy alley between one storey houses off Satwa Road, a small yellow dog with its bowels hanging out was found hanging by the neck.
A Gulf News reader who found the dog said she came across it whilst walking down the alley on her way home from work.
"I was really horrified. It's very terrible it is hanging with its stomach open and its face covered in sand. I don't know if a dog has attacked it and it's been strung up. I have seen the dog around before, it's a small puppy that I've seen in the area before. It belongs to someone - it has a collar and chain," she said.
She said she had not seen the dog in the morning. "I think I would have noticed it but on the way home I saw something hanging and went to look. I'm horrified," she said.
Some bachelors living close by came out of their accommodation and said they had noticed the dog when they came home from work at 6.30pm.
"We haven't called the municipality. We don't know where it came from. It wasn't here in the morning, we just came off duty and saw it this evening," a man said.
Residents from the next street were shocked to hear about the dog when questioned about the animal hanging behind their house. The owner of the dog has not been identified.
Teenage boys hanging around near a cafeteria said they did not know who the dog belonged to. One boy said he clasped his hand to his mouth when he first saw it. "We don't know who did it and I don't think they would tell us," he said.

The perpetrator of this heinous CRIME does not deserve to be called a human being. If killing a man is a punishable offence, then so is harming any other living creature. I hope the curse that escaped the unfortunate creature's lips before its demise, maims the sadist permanently.

I sincerely hope the demented person who did this will be prosecuted by law since it is considered a crime in this country. I thank Gulf News for opening the eyes of their readers by publishing this article. Hopefully more can be done to prevent such situations in this country by strongly implementing their laws against animal cruelty.

Ugh that is really really sick. How can someone do such a thing? The issue here is not about the picture! It's about the person who did this!! He must be something sick. Poor dog, animals here are treated like a pile of dirt. They are part of God?s creation, RESPECT IT. It doesn't mean we're more powerful in our minds and everything. Animals are living things. This is really sad.

It makes me cry to believe that someone could do such a horrific act to another living creature that breathes, feels, loves and hurts. You can see from the poor dogs face that all he/she ever wanted was some loving and instead he/she was subject to the cruelty of a sick human being, the worlds cruelest and most dangerous creature.

Really I am surprised at how people are crying and worried about death of single dog. What about civilians killed by bombings every day in Iraq/Palestine/Afghanistan.(every day u can see the pictures of innocent civilians killed in news but no body bothers/not a single drop of a tear.)

Of course we need to show it otherwise how we can raise awareness, pictures some times are stronger than words, please e-mail all the animal rights orgnizations such as The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) info-uk@ifaw.org , they have a branch in UAE and e-mail World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA)http://wspa.org.uk/cruelty.asp they work closely with Dubai Municipality. Please help to save those poor animals.

It is good that Gulf News has published this picture because a picture speaks a thousand words and if this was just a story, it would not carry the effect of this horrific incident and it is very disturbing that you have such cruel monsters in Dubai who would do this to a helpless dog and think nothing of it.

This is disgusting. One can imagine what goes on in a person's mind when he kills an animal like that. This picture is quite disturbing and has spoiled my day for sure.
