Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Wednesday attended the session of the preliminary approval of including Moral Education in school curricula.

He was briefed by the Moral Education Committee on the preliminary approval and implementation plan of the official inclusion of the new subject, which will be introduced to be taught at public schools as of September 2017.

“I am confident that teachers realise the importance of their role and noble message as they serve as role models for students who emulate them. Teachers inspire the imagination of pupils and guide them to the right path by adherence to ethics and good conduct,” Shaikh Mohammad said.

Shaikh Mohammad met a group of parents who were invited by the committee to gauge their opinions during the session. The committee was eager to engage them to share their ideas and insights on the best ways to achieve the maximum benefit as parents are key partners in the successful implementation of the Moral Education in school curricula and have their role in supporting the initiative.

He said: “Our children face difficult challenges and we are responsible for preparing them well and make them immune against wrong doings. It is our responsibility to prepare future generations for a new phase of accomplishment and progress because history will judge what we have given to our country, our children and our families,” he added.

Shaikh Mohammad said: "I trust and contentment that teachers understand the importance of their role and their role models to students in understanding how to follow ethics. Teachers also inspire pupils’ imagination not only to learn but also to understand cognitive and behavioural skills, values and positive attitudes.

The inclusion of Moral Education in school curricula is the fruits of close coordination between the Crown Prince's Court, the Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi Education Council, Human Development Authority, and Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority.
