Abu Dhabi: Reports of theft across all police stations in general are very limited, the Umm Al Quwain Police General Headquarters (GHQ) announced today (Tuesday).

Colonel Mohammad Ebrahim Al Bairaq, director-general of Police Operations at Umm Al Quwain Police GHQ, said that since the beginning of the year until the end of March, no more than 10 reports were received, with most being minor thefts at home.

The Umm Al Quwain Police GHQ warned against spreading false and unreliable information as it can be disruptive and have a negative impact socially, culturally, economically and security-wise. The Umm Al Quwain Police GHQ additionally emphasised that recent gossip circulating among the people of Umm Al Quwain regarding thefts in the emirate is based purely on rumours, and only confuses citizens and residents in the country.

“The police and security authorities are exerting significant efforts in following up on reports regarding thefts. We will arrest anyone who attempts to violate the security and stability of the country,” Al Bairaq said.

He called on citizens and residents to ensure that they receive their information from reliable sources only, to cooperate with police and security authorities, and to report any situation that may raise suspicion or mistrust. People can directly contact the emergency number 999 or call 067062000, 067062999.

“Refrain from spreading rumours. Those who spread such rumours will subsequently face penalties,” he added.
