Dubai: A woman lost her legal battle after Dubai’s highest court rejected her appeal and jailed her for one year for having paid sex with strangers across different hotels in Dubai.

The Dubai Cassation Court rejected the appeal of the 22-year-old Moroccan woman, G.B., to acquit her and upheld her one-year imprisonment.

Court records said G.B. was arrested in a hotel room where she was having paid sex with a 23-year-old Kuwaiti employee, A.Y., in 2014.

Presiding judge Mustafa Al Shennawi convicted G.B. of prostitution and allowing A.Y. to have consensual sex with her.

She will be deported following the completion of her jail term.

In June, the Dubai Appeal Court confirmed the accused’s punishment.

A.Y. was handed three months in jail followed by deportation. His ruling has become final.

G.B. admitted to prosecutors that A.Y. was one of her clients and she used to have paid sex with him.

“He and other men paid me Dh1,000 to Dh1,500 per night. I used to have paid sex with men in different hotels in Dubai,” she had told prosecutors.

A.Y. said in his prosecution statement that he paid Dh1,200 to G.B.

The ruling against the Moroccan defendant has become final.
