Dubai: A visitor, who molested two women friends and groped them while touring inside a horror game maze at a leisure and entertainment park, has been jailed for three months.

The 28-year-old Pakistani visitor walked behind the Emirati women into the dark alley of the horror game and intentionally bumped into them from behind and groped them in September.

One of the women thought at first that the visitor had mistakenly bumped into them because the alleys in the horror game were too dark. When the 28-year-old molested them a second time, the two Emiratis reported the matter to the venue’s management who called the police.

The Dubai Court of First Instance convicted the accused of molesting the two women despite having pleaded not guilty.

According to Tuesday’s ruling, presiding judge Mohammad Jamal said the accused will be deported after serving his jail term.

The defendant abused the nature of the horror game that requires visitors to walk in dark alleys and behind each other and molested the two women.

One of the women, who is a college student, testified that the accused groped her and her friend while they were in the dark horror game.

“While walking beside my friend, someone ran into me from the back. In the beginning, I thought it was by mistake. A few minutes later, I felt someone putting an arm around my shoulder and I thought it was my friend … but when I turned to look, I realised that it was the defendant, who groped my bottom. He did the same to my friend. He drew his body very close to mine in a disrespectful way,” she told prosecutors.

The 25-year-old friend said the Pakistani was near his friend when he groped them twice.

Prosecution records confirmed that surveillance camera footage showed the two women shouting at the 28-year-old as soon as he walked out of the horror game. The primary ruling remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
