Dubai: A security guard has been accused of molesting his co-worker and trying to steal a kiss from her while she was stacking stock inside a storeroom.

The 27-year-old Pakistani security guard, Q.B., was said to have grabbed his co-worker, a Chinese saleswoman, by her arm and pulling her towards him in an attempt to kiss her while she was trying to put some products in a storeroom in April.

The guard and the saleswoman both worked in a commercial store at the Dragon Mall.

Prosecutors accused Q.B. of molesting the woman.

The suspect pleaded not guilty and denied the accusations when he defended himself before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Monday.

According to the charge sheet, prosecutors said the suspect pulled the Chinese woman towards him and tried to kiss her before she pushed him away.

“I did not molest her … I mistakenly and unintentionally touched her. I did not mean it,” Q.B. told presiding judge Urfan Omar in court.

The Chinese testified to prosecutors that the incident happened when she asked the suspect to open the storeroom so she could put some items inside.

“When I asked him to unlock the door, he offered to help me. Then he asked me to accompany him to another side door. I panicked, got confused and refused to walk with him … he grabbed my left arm and pulled me. I evaded him and moved back. He chased me and when he tried to kiss me, I prevented him and pushed him away. I ran outside quickly,” the woman claimed to prosecutors.

A police sergeant claimed to prosecutors that the suspect admitted to him during questioning that he had touched the woman.

A ruling will be heard on July 28.
