Dubai: A man has been accused of trespassing into a 60-year-old woman’s bedroom while he was in a drunken state and molesting her while she and her husband were sleeping.

The 19-year-old Egyptian, A.A., was said to have consumed alcohol and trespassed into the British woman’s bedroom in January 2015.

The defendant entered a not guilty plea when he showed up before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Sunday.

The Egyptian denied all accusations and requested bail while defending himself before presiding judge, Mohammad Jamal in court.

The British woman testified to prosecutors that the incident happened at 5am at her villa in Dubai Silicon Oasis.

“I was sleeping beside my husband when I suddenly felt somebody touching me. I immediately shouted at the suspect. He ran away even as my husband jumped out of bed to catch him. The suspect managed to escape and my husband couldn’t track him down. We then called the police,” she claimed.

The British husband claimed to the prosecutors that he woke up to his wife shouting at the defendant.

“I heard her shouting ‘Leave our house’. My wife was scared and I was shocked to see the suspect in our bedroom. I tried to chase him but he escaped. When I returned to the bedroom, my wife told me what had transpired,” testified the husband.

A police lieutenant testified to prosecutors the suspect’s fingerprint matched those lifted from the bedroom.

“We contacted the suspect’s father and asked him to bring him to the police station. During questioning, the suspect claimed that he was very drunk that evening after he had attended a farewell party at his friend’s house in the same area. The suspect alleged that when he left the party at 3am, he opened the doors of several villas and when the door of the British woman’s villa opened, he entered it in search of money to steal. When he did not find anything on the ground floor, he claimed he headed to the first floor, entered the bedroom and touched the woman. When the husband woke up, he ran away,” claimed the lieutenant.

The trial continues.
