Dubai: The home of a Syrian TV presenter has been set ablaze after she refused to resign from Al Jazeera, media reports have said.

According to the reports, the family of Rola Ebrahim was besieged by thugs who put pressure on its members to distance themselves from the presenter for working for a channel that they deemed biased against Syria in its coverage of the events there.

The thugs later set the house on fire.

Rola has been under tremendous pressure to resign from the channel amid calls to strip her of the Syrian nationality, the reports said.

She started her TV career in Syria Radio and Television before moving to Russia Today. She worked later for Kuwait's Al Rai TV before joining Al Jazeera.
