Ramallah: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday instructed the Palestinian representative at the UN to demand an urgent meeting for the UN Security Council to discuss the issue of the Israeli colony activities in the West Bank and Occupied East Jerusalem.
Nabeel Abu Rudaina, the Palestinian Presidential spokesman said in a statement that the Palestinian representative at the UN was instructed by the President to seek an urgent meeting for the Security Council as soon as possible.
The issue to be discussed urgently was the Israeli colony activities in the West Bank and Occupied East Jerusalem.
The Palestinian demand was in response to the Israelis’ announcement that they would build 1,300 new home units in Occupied East Jerusalem and 800 new units in the colony of Ariel on the West Bank.
Abu Rudaina said that Israeli construction in Occupied Jerusalem or anywhere on Palestinian soil was in violation of international law.
