Kuwait: Kuwait has withdrawn its ambassador from Iraq due to the security situation there, a Kuwaiti official said on Monday.

"We told our ambassador and diplomatic team [to leave] more than a week ago ... This is because of the security situation in Iraq. When we feel the situation has become stable and normal again they will go back," said Khalid Al Jarallah, Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry Undersecretary.

However, Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry refuted claims that it has recalled its ambassador and other diplomats from Iraq.
The ministry, in a statement to Kuna, said that the Kuwaiti diplomatic mission remains in Iraq, but it has been down-sized due to the current unrest in the country.
